S—1985 On April 20, 31-year-old, father-of-5 Black man named Lloyd “Tony” Stevenson stops a robbery at a 7/11 7 miles from here. Police arrive, tackle Stevenson, and choke him to death. On the day of his funeral, 2 PPB officers print 100 T-shirts with a smoking gun and the words, “Don’t Choke ’Em. Smoke ’Em.” They are fired, then rehired with back pay.
